Will there be other beginners
in my class?
Yes, certainly. Our classes are divided by age and rank. Some lessons
are for beginner students only. Some are open to all belt ranks and the
students are more diverse. They are still excellent classes for beginners
to attend.
I'm not very flexible.
Can I still train in martial arts?
Oh, sure. We spend a little time in each class stretching, so gradually
your flexibility will improve. People who are not flexible can still be
strong and fast.
How many times each week can
students work out?
We offer classes for beginner students six days per week, and students
are encouraged to work out as often as they like. It is good to work out
two times per week, but three times is better. Personal workouts at home
are also recommended.
Who teaches the classes?
Senior Instructors teach the classes. Our instructors are certified and
highly experienced. To assist in the classes, Mr. Rogers selects First
Degree Decided Black Belts and above who are not only excellent martial
artists, but also clear communicators and experienced at working with
children.
Do you offer family member
discounts?
Sure we do! Additional family members train in taekwondo for a significantly
reduced rate! A one-time enrollment fee does apply
for each student.
Do I have to sign a contract?
No. Taekwondo America does not require contracts. Our
students pay month-to-month. You do not pay for any month that you do
not take lessons. There are no exit fees, deposits, annual fees, or auto-withdrawal
requirements.
Where
do I get the uniform?
We sell uniforms at the academy. We try to keep all sizes in stock. They
cost about $30. However, you are not required to have a uniform until
your first belt test. It is fine to work out in shorts or sweats until
you can purchase a uniform.
Are students required to
compete in tournaments?
No, it is not required, but it is highly recommended that you participate
in tournaments during your training. It is a relatively safe way to challenge
yourself to face an opponent that you haven't faced before, and to see
how well you perform in a nervous situation.
How do I enroll?
After your free class and/or introductory
special, you pay the one-time enrollment fee and the first month's
tuition. You may attend as many classes as you want each month. There
is one small information form to fill out. Get
Started Today!
How much does it cost?
The one-time enrollment fee is $65 for your first family member and $50
for each additional family member. The monthly tuition is $98 for your
first family member and $58 for each additional family member. This tuition
covers unlimited classes! "Family Member"
means immediate family, i.e. your spouse or your child. The only other
expenses that you will incur are the price of a uniform (about $30) needed
for your first test, and periodic testing fees ($40 every two months if
eligible). Green belts and above need sparring gear, which costs about
$100, also available through the school.
