"I asked some of the other soccer moms, 'Who should I go to for martial arts lessons?' Every one of them said, 'Take them to David Rogers.'"  — Lisa Erwin, mom of Ryan and Hayden, First Degree Decided Black Belts, Aubrey TX

About Our Instructors

We are proud that many of Denton Taekwondo Academy's students continue to work out for years after earning their black belts. Fully one-third of our enrollment consists of black belts! We can thank our outstanding instructional staff.

David Rogers—Chief Instructor
Cheryl Rogers—Beginner Coordinator
Kimber Summers—Special Advisor

In addition to these certified Senior Instructors, we are also grateful to the following black belts who volunteer their time each week to help in the children's classes:

Ms. Sylvia Li, Second Degree Black Belt
Mr. John Borsch, Second Degree Black Belt
Ms. Kandis Hibler, First Degree Black Belt

Nevertheless, we do not allow all black belts to teach class. Mr. Rogers selects those people who are not only terrific martial artists, but also clear communicators and experienced at working with children.

We know that parents and students want their instructors to be positive role models. This means that our own expectations are very high: we're not just teaching "karate lessons," but life lessons.
